Obscure Star Wars reference in Land pavilion: Kuat Shipyards

Twitter users @OliRage @elby2007 found a Star Wars reference in Epcot recently. At the Land pavilion, not far from the Garden Grill restaurant, there is a scarecrow, some bales of hay, and a crate.

If you turn the crate upside down, the Aurebesh (Star Wars universe) writing is now something you can translate.

It says: Kuat Drive Shipyards.

This is in reference to Kuat, where the large Imperial Star Destroyers are built in the Star Wars universe. A bit more obtuse than most inside jokes in Disney World, but there you have it!

Kevin Yee is the author of numerous independent Disney books, including the popular Walt Disney World Earbook series and Walt Disney World Hidden History.
