Miyuki - pics

Have you seen the "candy artist" named Miyuki yet? She plies her trade from a cart in the outdoor pavilion of Japan, and the job is as simple as sculpting little animal figurines (on a stick) from hot rice candy, in various colors.

It's incredible. Her talent is sometimes breathtaking. All the more impressive: she takes requests and seldom says "no" - she just finds a way to make the request.

What the pictures don't capture is how fast she is. This is not a deliberative process. She attacks the task with vigor and no hesitation, moving as fast as her hands will allow.

It's like watching a master piano player as his fingers dance across the keys without thought. That's how practiced, and how good, she is.

She always attracts a crowd, so get there early for a front-row spot!
