TAMPA, Fla. (July 2, 2012) – Service members from
MacDill Air Force Base will be participating in Water Survival Training at
Adventure Island from 7 to 9 a.m. Friday, July 6. The soldiers will participate
in an exercise designed to replicate the conditions of a water landing under
combat conditions.
Service members will wear utility pants, a uniform shirt
and combat boots while they complete a 50m combat swim (breaststroke and
sidestroke), a 10m underwater swim and 5 minutes of treading water. The training
will also include information on field expedient flotation devices and proper
rescue swimming techniques.

on-hand to oversee the training and discuss on-camera how these training tips
can be applied to good water safety practices at the beach, river, lake or home
swimming pool.
