Recently we upgraded our WDW Premium Florida Annual Passes so that we could also have admission to Disneyland. We love our Premier passes, but the reality is we were pushed to do it because the Disneyland ticket prices were about to jump up, so we acted quickly.
Thus, I paid less attention when the WDW ticket prices went up a few days ago. I'd already upgraded. As a result, I somehow missed the news that a significant shift occurred with the new pricing: there is no longer a child's price for admission when you're buying annual passes!
There is still a child's ticket for Magic Your Way tickets, so it's not like Disney has done away with special pricing entirely. But now the annual pass has only one option: anyone age three and over has to pay the same price (anyone under three is still free). Note that Disneyland's annual passes have been this way for some years now, with no child pricing.
Disney didn't comment on why they eliminated the child discount (which was generally about $50), but it's not hard to imagine a reason why: to increase revenue. I'm not sure what the reason COULD be except to generate more cash.
