Winter Haven, FL (Nov. 30, 2012) – As guests gathered and joyful carolers sang, LEGOLAND® Florida gleefully launched into the Christmas holiday season on Nov. 29 with its 2nd Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony featuring LEGO® Santa, LEGO Toy Soldier and special guest, singer Chris Kirkpatrick. Well known for forming and starring in *NSYNC, a hit recoding group who sold over 56 million records, won awards and broke sales records, Kirkpatrick took the honor of lighting thousands of twinkling LED lights on the 30-foot tall LEGO Christmas tree for the first time this season. Among the 50 rides, shows and attractions, the massive tree weighing more than 11 tons and made of more than 270,000 forest green LEGO and DUPLO bricks is a key feature of LEGOLAND Florida’s annual Christmas Bricktacular.

A recording artist, as well as the founder and president of the Chris Kirkpatrick Foundation, Kirkpatrick is passionate about giving back to his community and providing help and hope to children that are less fortunate. Kirkpatrick said, “As we enter this holiday season, it’s important to think about those children that may not get anything under the Christmas tree this year and how each of us might be able to help brighten their holiday season.”

“Families dealing with financial and/or health burdens rarely have an opportunity to enjoy family time away from the stress, especially during the holidays,” said Adrian Jones, LEGOLAND Florida General Manager. “Through the Chris Kirkpatrick Foundation, LEGOLAND Florida is granting 40 families the opportunity to cast their burdens aside to create a memorable family experience at LEGOLAND Florida that will have lasting memories for years to come.”

Families can enjoy Christmas Bricktacular on Saturdays and Sundays in December. With brick loads of festive family fun, guests can build LEGO ornaments to decorate holiday trees, help find LEGO Santa’s in a Miniland USA Santa Scavenger Hunt, meet and take photos with the new LEGO Santa and LEGO Toy Soldier and enjoy holiday entertainment and shopping in six specialty stores packed with unique and hard to find LEGO products.

New Year’s festivities include a Countdown to Kids’ New Year’s Eve that features a nightly LEGO firework show Dec. 26-30 and a grand finale on Dec. 31. The Kids New Year’s Eve celebration features an amazing live-action show, an impressive LEGO fireworks display, and a chance to watch the BRICK Drop at just the right time for kids, midnight KST (Kid Standard Time) - otherwise known as 6 p.m. EST.
