Legoland offers fired Hallandale lifeguard a job

Legoland Florida today issued an open letter to Thomas Lopez, who had been fired as a Hallandale Beach lifeguard for saving a drowning man outside of his normal "zone" to safeguard.

Here is the open letter:

LEGOLAND Florida’s Open Letter to Terminated Lifeguard Thomas Lopez

July 11, 2012
Dear Tomas Lopez,
It has come to our attention that last week you were terminated for leaving your lifeguard post on Hallandale Beach to help save a drowning man. Thomas, we find your efforts to be the work of a true model citizen.  And, believe me, we know what it takes to be a model citizen.  At LEGOLAND, we call all of our employees “Model Citizens.” Part of this “citizenship” requires that we do whatever it takes to maintain the safety of our park guests. Your quick-thinking and life-saving skills demonstrated last week prove that you would be an excellent addition to our team.
On behalf of LEGOLAND Water Park, I would like to extend to you a lifeguard position at Central Florida’s newest theme park.  We would also like to extend this offer of employment to your fellow lifeguards who quit their jobs in support of you.
We would be honored to welcome you and your fellow brave lifeguards onto the LEGOLAND Florida team. If you are interested in accepting our offer, please call us at (877) 350-LEGO.
Sincerely,

Adrian Jones
General Manager
LEGOLAND Florida
